Change MOTOR oil regularly

Motor oil lubricates the internal components of your engine and prevents excessive heat and friction which could shorten the life of your engine and reduce its reliability. When you change your oil, you replace dirty oil which has become dark and filled with contaminants with clean and fresh oil that is free of these contaminants. Changing your oil at the manufacturer’s recommended intervals is one of the best things you can do to maximize the lifespan of your engine and your vehicle.

rotate your tires

To maximize the lifespan of your tires and prevent uneven and/or premature wear, it is important that you rotate your tires regularly. This is a process in which the tires are switched around and moved to different axles where they will receive different wear. This helps to balance the wear patterns and prevent the tires from wearing out sooner than they should. Many people rotate their tires every 5000 miles or so, but it is important to follow the guidelines recommended by your vehicle manufacturer.

check belts, fluids, hoses, shocks

Each engine compartment contains many fluids, belts, and hoses. It is important to regularly check the level and condition of important fluids like motor oil, coolant, power steering fluid, windshield washer fluid, and brake fluid. In addition, it is important to check the fluids in other places such as differential fluid (where applicable), transfer case fluid (in 4x4 vehicles), and transmission fluid. Last but not least, it is important to make sure your vehicle’s suspension system is in good working order and that any shocks and springs are not worn out.

Maintain BRakes

Whether your vehicle has disc or drum brakes, the brakes are a crucial part of your vehicle which enables you to control the speed of your vehicle. Bad brakes can quickly become a dangerous safety issue, increasing stopping distances and reducing your ability to control your vehicle. It is crucial to check things like brake pads, calipers, and discs for wear and replace them when wear becomes excessive and warrants replacement.
